Presage Sharp Edged GMT Series by Seiko Watch

The Seiko Presage Sharp Edged GMT upholds the Japanese company’s reputation for providing exceptional quality and value. The model includes a GMT, a pointer-style date display, and a power-reserve indicator.

Grand Seiko continues to attract a growing number of watch enthusiasts, but another Japanese company, Seiko Presage, is also doing well.

The self-winding Calibre 6R64, on the other hand, made the SPB219J1’s construction even more remarkable given its exceptional value. This was no ordinary modular assembly; rather, it was a fully integrated movement with a column wheel and vertical coupling, a design typically reserved for much more expensive watches. The push-piece felt smooth when the stopwatch function was activated, and the central chronograph seconds hand glided effortlessly from rest.

Surprisingly, no one informed Seiko that many commodities and services are susceptible to inflation. A Seiko chronograph (SRQ023J1) with the aforementioned Calibre 8R48, a white enamel dial, an exhibition case back, and a crocodile leather strap is now available.

The Seiko Presage Sharp Edged Series GMT is one of many new models introduced by the Japanese company this year. Japanese cultural elements are frequently incorporated into the designs of Presage models, as they are with Grand Seiko innovations. This design has appeared on Japanese fabrics for over a thousand years. The geometric design of the dial interacts brilliantly with light to create areas of contrast between brightness and darkness.

While a GMT hand with a distinct tip displays the hour at home, the luminous hour and minute hands display the time in the immediate vicinity. The latter hand interacts with a 24-hour scale on the bezel to indicate whether it is day or night at one’s home address. A bi-color track on the back serves as an additional reminder of the time of day at home.

Two additional features are a pointer-style date display at 6 o’clock and a power-reserve indicator at 9 o’clock. The Seiko Presage Sharp Edged Series GMT’s automatic Calibre 6R64 is visible through an exhibition case back. The steel bracelet and case have a lot of facets and sharp edges. The bracelet also has a three-fold clasp with a push-button release.

It has a tidy profile. There are some strong lines visible. Angled surfaces can be found. The bracelet has been redesigned to have a multi-dimensional sharp feel that complements the energy of the case. The lugs are also angled to emphasise the design’s modernity.

The contrast between the carefully constructed and polished surfaces, the sharp edges of the case’s silhouette, and the hairline finish creates a pleasingly multi-dimensional effect. The indexes are designed to let light play across the dial because they have two distinct finishes, textured on top and polished on the sides. The GMT hand has a strong and precise design to match the case’s sharp angles. Each of the four watches has a super-hard coating that protects the case and band from dents while providing long-lasting brilliance.
